First Steps/Primeros Pasos

First Steps is a supportive parent-Infant program focusing on educating both mother and father through the group experience. Its goal is to help mothers and fathers better prepare themselves for the experience of parenthood through a series of group cycles, each one focusing on key child and parent developmental experiences.

Collaborating with the Ackerman Family Institute, First Steps uses two curriculums in its groups, one focusing on the parent-child experience (Bright Beginnings) and one focusing on the personal development of the parent (Personal Best).

First Steps offers families:

  • Mothers-Infant groups
  • Parents-Infant groups
  • Prenatal groups
  • Personal Development groups
  • Home visiting services
  • Case Management Services
  • Advocacy and referral services
  • Counseling Services
  • Parent-baby activities

All staff are bilingual in Spanish and trained on parent-child development.
